Quick lesson learned about car battery replacement

I wanted to share some advice for anyone facing a dead battery soon. I was in a rush and nearly just bought a battery from a random shop to fit myself. But then I did some research on choosing between a mechanic and DIY and found out it's not as simple as it used to be. For my car, a BMW, the new battery needs to be coded to the vehicle so the charging system knows it's there. I ended up using a mobile mechanic who came to my place, fitted the right AGM battery, and did all the coding on his laptop in about 20 minutes. Cost a bit more than DIY but the peace of mind was worth it. Just thought I'd share in case it helps someone else avoid a mistake.
